WELCOME TO THE SANKOFA LIBRARY AND RESOURCE CENTER
A voluminous list of more than 300 titles to personally guide and direct individual as well as institutional study programs
Black Studies Provides for Black Psychological Wellness!
The Sankofa library and resource center shelves more than 600 titles of current, rare, hard to locate and out-of-print books, articles and publications that specifically address the historicity of Africa and other diasporic (MAAFA) civilizations. Each print source is scholarly certified as to its vital content, documentation, informational accuracy as well as approved and/or sanctioned by the *International Council of Black Scholars as a valued source suitable to be disseminated, and employed for refutation of most unworthy and unreliable volumes circulating to perpetuate Western propaganda.
For too long, information and materials regarding Africa and her peoples throughout the MAAFA have been predetermined and purposefully distorted by others with the intention to rewrite events to suit the likening’s of many non- African groups. Unfortunately, the ideological patterning of such misinformation and the continuous conspiracy of passing it along for untold centuries, have caused the truth, when spoken of earnestly, to seem like falsehood. There has been no end to the sparing of disciplines; unreliable information has infiltrated and penetrated the sacred text as well as the secular: from primeval historicity, arts, biological sciences and even into the social humanities. Western civilization has left no stone unturned that was not tarnished by the perjury, the arcane agendas and the malfeasances concocted to fill certain biases and prejudicial needs.
Notwithstanding, credit must be given were credit is due: so admittingly, many of the erudite and fact-filled volumes comprising this resource consultancy are written and researched by scholars of European descendant and many titles that were deemed unsuitable for inclusivity, were discarded due to lack of facts and faulty research that were indicative of subjective injections of ethnocentric sentiments, were authored mainly by African Americans, whose intentions, arguably were noble, but wishful thinking and incorrectness can neither replace nor substitute for factuality.
One of the primary objectives of the Sankofa African Heritage, Inc., is to pass on to millennials and future generations the art and desire to research diligently, to write assuredly and proclaim from the ‘mountain top’ and not from the ‘bully pulpit’.
Until this day, the art of reading to many African Americans remains to resurrect a psychological block when put in retrospect to African-American history, when the reward for learning was dismemberment, torture and denial for simply attempting to learn how to read and write. Sorry! No longer excusable!
